Still Here

So far, here I am at home. NOT at the hospital.

Although the doctor has said it could be any minute, he doesn't want to "take" the baby until the last minute in case we're wrong about the due-date.

Every minute "in" is good for the baby but not-so-good for me. Now, instead of bed-rest I'm on perpetual-movement. And the doctor decided he'd come into the office on Thursday morning instead of leaving on his trip. I have a message for the receptionist, according to my doctor: "Tell her you know I'm back in my office, and to come get me when you get here, that I said so."

Lets all pray she doesn't just fall out in the middle of the night, since the local hospital is really just an elevated-helo-pad and the "real" hospital is 1.5 hours away.

Lalalalalalala. I'm in my happy place.

"Lalalalalalala. I'm in my happy place."

Does this have something to do with hormones?

More like an advanced form of denial. A simple and extremely determined refusal to deal with defeat and/or fear, like the starfish in the tank at the dentists office in FindingNemo.

It requires a tremendous amount of stubborness ... focus ... determination ...

Characteristics that have prompted my father to shake his head and suggest "you know how she is". A phrase that seems to be a key bonding moment between my father and my husband. "You know how she is." Implying acknowledgement and sympathy that there is simply nothing to be done other than to cooperate or stand aside.

Fortunately for the two of them, this happens rarely. Very very rarely. And ... yet ... they seem to remember those moments.

Its something I can laugh about. Because ... well ... I know how I am!
