Note to husband: NO NO NO NO NO

See, that was easy enough. This isn't actually a post about the Better Idea.

Its a post about me NOT having "Word" on my computer and refusing to think that notepad is acceptable. So I have to make a list of US Presidents to reference later because I don't have them memorized. Because thats part of what my husband is going to get for Father's Day. Kind of. If the kids can remember all the books of the Bible, they can certainly remember the presidents of the US. Which is an interesting bit of trivia that my husband will appreciate them knowing.

So.

Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was put before U.S. Congress by President Lyndon Johnson on Aug. 5, 1964, in rticeaon to two alleged unprovoked attacks by North Vietnamese torpedo boats on the destroyers Maddox on August 2, and C. Turner Joy of the U.S. Seventh Fleet on August 4, in the Gulf of Tonkin. This resolution approved the president, as commander in chief, in taking all necessary actions to stop any armed attack against the forces of the United State and to bring peace in Vietnam. Because of this resolution the president got authority to escalate United States’ military involvement in the Vietnam War. American people were in favor of this resolution in the beginning but gradually they started to dislike the idea of American president’s involvement in Foreign policy crisis. In 1973, because of public appeal Congress passed War Powers Resolution which set forth certain requirements for the president to consult with Congress in regard to decisions that engage U.S. forces in hostilities or imminent hostilities. I think American people have now become more sophisticated with respect to holding American Presidents accountable in the middle of foreign policy crises. They strongly opposed President Bush involvement in Iraq crisis and Republican Party lost Presidential election in 2008 only because American people were blaming Bush for that crisis. Now American people want to get informed that why American government is involving in any international crisis and how it can affect the economy of their own country. American people are also in favor of bringing peace and democracy in the whole world but they are not in favor of punishing innocent people for the crime they didn’t committed. They favored when dictators like Sadam Hussain and Qadafi were punished but they didn’t favor when innocent people in Iraq were bombed to death. Whether there is a crisis in Israel or Egypt, American people wanted to get informed about the whole situation before president involvement in that situation. I think now future presidents would be very careful in involving in any foreign crisis and would take into consideration the public feelings about that.
