You're Pregnant! Or Not!

This may be the weirdest post ever. Which is saying something. And I'm too exhausted with moving to make it cute and/or funny. But, this is so bizarre that I really want the experience recorded.

Anyway, a friend felt pregnant. So she took an EPT. Then another EPT. Then a trip to the OBGYN. All the tests came back "pregnant". Except that then she did some math and realized it was physically impossible. Fortunately, her doctor is a "listener". So he did some more complicated tests. And she isn't pregnant. In spite of the 99.7% effective tests she tookWhat are the odds!?! (I'm sure they're huge, but I won't be doing the math for you, this isn't that kind of blog)

Want to know what skewed the tests?

Milk. Regular milk and cheese. Apparently she had been "off" dairy for about six months. Then she started eating it again about three months ago. And she thought she'd cut corners on her grocery-bills by buying "regular" instead of "organic". The hormones-that-the-FDA-swears-doesn't-make-it-to-the-final-product accumulated in her body quickly, fooling her system into thinking she was pregnant.

She's fine now. VERY definitely off the "regular" dairy products. And, yeah, I understand she's going to be extra-sensitive after being totally off dairy for several months. But, still, doesn't that make you wonder what its doing to you and your kids!?! Even low levels over long periods of time are bound to have some effect. Its an estrogen-like-hormone to make the cows produce more milk. How is that affecting young boys? What about PMS occurring younger and younger in girls?

Just some random the-world-is-ending-if-you-don't-buy-organic thoughts :)

1st of all, really good to see you! I know you're moving and all, but I was having withdrawal!

2nd, that is horrifying. I really need to make the switch to organic milk, but I cannot afford $6 a gallon! So instead, I have severely limited their milk consumption. You can get calcium from other foods, so we do.

Really makes me want to buy a piece of property and start a compound...all organic, no nasty chemicals, we'll feed ourselves, thank-you-very-much!

I know I'm the consipriacy theorist on these issues, but seriously, the FDA is not your friend. If feeding us rat poison could make them money, they'd find a way to do it.

Okay, so I'm thinking...perhaps it's what's making it so difficult for us all to lose weight. You know how estrogen and fat go together and just sit there, not letting your body expell the fat.
Well, perhaps we just wont be buying much milk anymore!

I decided long ago that the FDA is not evil. They used to do very very very good things. Now, they're plagued by incompetence. I really believe they have no idea what they're doing (or allowing to be done) to us.

Funny y'al brought up the fat-dairy connection. Some studies have shown that increases in dairy-consumption leads to a significant decrease in belly-fat. HOWEVER, I've been reading (Perricone) (Yeah, sue me for being vain) and he seems to point out (with tons of technical boring details) that there's a trick to it!

The dairy MUST have enough magnesium in your system to bond with it, and the dairy should optimally be organic. He recommends a daily supplement of 500mg of magnesium, which my doctor assured me I can't overdose on even if I ate the whole bottle at one time!

(I've read other studies recently that suggested as much as 85% of the adult female population is seriously deficient in magnesium) (Probably related to a diet low in nuts and berries)

As long as we're at it, I read something this week that pointed out Fosamax is evil. I think I followed the trail from Dean'sWorld toHank'sYouBetYourLife. It was interesting. From what I gathered, Fosamax, a drug to combat bone frailty actually causes spontaneous unhealing fractures. He's a good writer, it didn't even hurt reading the whole post. I bet you can do it too!
